In dual reflector antennas consisting of a main reflector and a sub-reflector,aperture distribution in the main reflector is controlled by reflector shaping technique. Aperture distribution divided into phase distribution and amplitude distribution. In general the phase distribution is uniform. On the other hand the amplitude distribution is determined by the required radiation characteristics. If low sidelobe level in the specific observation plane and as high gain as possible are required, then amplitude distribution reduces to asymmetric one. Many reflector shaping techniques to obtain the asymmetric amplitude
distribution are reported.
In this paper the simple formulas between the asymmetric amplitude distribution and gain, on-axis sidelobe level and wide-angle sidelobe level are presented.
Therefore, the necessary amplitude distribution to reflector shaping in order to satisfy the required radiation characteristics is predicted. |
