Novel Traffic Engineering in All-Optical Networks Considering Impairment

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) We propose a novel Traffic Engineering technique in order to consider impairment simply and to satisfy quality-of-signal (QoS) requirements in all-optical networks. In all-optical networks, an existence of impairment limits maximum transmission distance of optical signals to satisfy QoS requirements. When a route is calculated under the maximum transmission distance constraint, it is impossible to find a route solving a bad influence of impairment with considering only physical distances. It is because the degree of impairment in two links differs even if they have the same length if external conditions such as equipment, operation conditions and environmental conditions are different. We, therefore, propose adjustment factors to create the “logical distance”.
