White Noise and Impulse Noise Reduction Using Zero Phase Signal by Phase Estimation

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In this paper, we propose a new noise reduction method using zero phase signal. The zero phase signal is defined as the IDFT of amplitude spectra without phase spectra. Although the zero phase signal of a speech has periodicity, the zero phase signal of a white or an impulse noise is a scaled delta function. Estimating the scaled delta function and suppressing it from the zero phase signal of the noisy speech, we can obtain the zero phase signal of only the speech. In the proposed method, we estimate the scaled delta function by utilizing the periodicity of the speech's zero phase signal. Simulation results show that the proposed method can reduce the white and impulse noises more than the conventional methods.
