Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) This paper proposes a stepsize control method without distinguishing double-talk and echo path change. In acoustic echo canceller systems, the coefficients of adaptive filter are disturbed by three factors: the power fluctuation of reference signal (far-end talker’s signal), the superposition of noise (near-end talker’s signal) called double talk and echo path change. The disturbance caused by the first one, can be prevented by applying block length control to block implementation algorithms. The other two can be solved by distinguishing the echo path change and the double talk and by increasing and decreasing the step size in the former and the latter cases, respectively. However, it is difficult to distiguish them quickly and exactly. This paper hence proposes a step size control method decreasing the estimation error steadily without the distinguishment. For the control, this method uses a sub adaptive filter with a fixed large step size and fewer taps than those of a main adaptive filter. Naturally, this filter provides smaller residual echo than the main filter does. This control method applies the step size calculated using the residual echo to the main filter; consequently a large and small step size can be automatically provided in the echo path chnage and the double talk, respectively.
