In this paper, we propose a method for suppressing diffuse noise, effective even with small-sized arrays. The multichannel Wiener filter is known as a framework suitable for suppression of diffuse noise. For the design of
the filter, accurate estimation of the power spectrum of the target signal is essential. In the conventional estimation method [Zelinski1988], microphones have to be well separated from each other, so that noise can be approximated to be uncorrelated between microphones. On the other hand, our estimation method based on decorrelation of diffuse noise utilizing arrays with crystal-like symmetries is accurate even when microphones are placed close to each other. |
