Structuring Web Documents via User-Configurable Virtual Directories

We propose a framework for structuring Web documents based on virtual directories.
Virtual directories are unique to each user and are constructed both from metadata reflecting the contents of Web documents
and from their user-specific configurations. Our framework allows users to dynamically reconfigure their virtual directories
through an ajax user inteface, even while browsing. We also discuss how to impose restrictions on users' operations
in order to avoid inappropriate directory productions. Finally, we show, as a case study, that our framework improves
issues concerning inappropriate automatic link generation in Wiki sites. |
