ESPRIT-Based Near-Field Source Localization Using Phase Difference Compensation

(in English) This paper presents a modified near-field source localization method based on algebraic solution that is aiming to improve the accuracy of estimation. MUSIC(Multiple Signal Classification) and ESPRIT(Estimation of Signal Parameters via Rotational Invariance Techniques) methods are the representative DOA(Direction Of Arrival) estimation algorithms and those methods can be applied to near-field source localization. Unlike those conventional algorithms that assume far-field, special model is required in the near-field localization because spherical waves are arrived to array antennas. The algorithm based on the MUSIC method needs the time-consuming peak search. On the other hand, the algorithm based on the ESPRIT method could reduce the computational complexity due to algebraic solution. However, the above algorithm has a problem that its accuracy becomes worse due to the requirements of approximation of each phase terms for the application of algebraic proceeding. To solve the problem, we propose an algorithm exploiting phase difference compensation. First, the error factors contained in each phase differences are estimated using the parameters of the angles and ranges of the sources. Then the phase differences of the recieved signals are compansated using the error factors before another localization. The estimation accuracy is evaluated throuth computer simulation in comparison with those by conventional algorithms based on MUSIC and ESPRIT.
