Manufacturing and Measurement of Variably Matchable EM-wave Absorber

(in English) Artificial material or metamaterial based on circuit network has electrically-controllable feature
of its characteristics.
An application of it have already realized the EM-wave absorber whose absorbing characteristics
can be dynamically varied.
In this report, we manufactured a variably-matchable EM-wave absorber
with variable capacitor diodes and measured its characteristics.
First, we manufactured an EM-wave absorber panel composed of two sheets of square grids
with varicap diodes, spacer, and a metal plate.
Next, we fabricated a strip line for measuring the characteristics of the absorber panel.
Time gating technique was used to pick up the desired reflected wave.
We measured the characteristics of EM-wave absorber panel with varying the DC biases.
As a result, we confirmed the variable matching characteristics of the EM-wave absorber panel
in UHF frequency band spanning from 500MHz to 750MHz,
though the reflectivity was as less effective as from $-4$dB to $-6$dB.
