Analysis method of chaotic time series using measures of networks.

(in English) Complex phenomena are ubiquitous in the real world, for example, fluctuation of financial indices in a
stock market, population of a species in a local community, and change of weather condition. In this report, we
propose a new method to quantify the deterministic chaos using the measures of the complex network theory. The
basic idea of our proposed method is that attractors of nonlinear dynamical systems and networks are characterized
by a two–dimensional matrix. First, we construct a recurrence plot from an attractor. Next, we use the recurrence
plot as an adjacent matrix of a network. Then, we evaluated the clustering coefficients and the characteristic path
length of the network. As a result, we confirmed that the constructed networks from the chaotic systems show the
small world property.
