Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Bit-length of digital images is decided by the specification of the Analog to Digital(AD) converter. The bit-length expansion technique is necessity for the high-quality display such as the LCD display and the plasma display. Moreover, bit-length expansion is also necessary for low-bit length images, which are observed the pseudo-contour. In this paper, we propose a 1 bit-length and 2 bit-length expansion methods. This operation means that one or three quantization-levels are introduced between existing levels. We show that the proposed method can remove pseudo-contour of digital images through a lot of application results.
