Study on MIMO capacity of mobile terminal with 2ele-monopole antenna.

(in English) Small MIMO antenna element able to built in a small terminal is demanded by design and convenience for mobile terminal. But the capacity loss will be caused by the mutual coupling of each proximity element. On the other hand, in the unbalanced type antenna which is generally used for a mobile terminal, a current flow on a terminal ground plane causes an intersection polarization ingredient, and the channel capacity may rise up by diversity effect of orthogonal polarized waves, when the base station antennas have different polarized wave. In this report, l/4 monopole antennas on a ground plane and l/2 dipole antennas were compared to grasp the influence on the channel capacity by the difference in antenna structure of a 2*2 MIMO terminal. The incident wave conditions with the maximum capacity were estimated by the horizontal plane PAG, the space correlation and the eigenvalue, when the combination of polarization of an incident wave was changed. Consequently, it has been confirmed that the high 19.3[bps /Hz ] channel capacity was obtained by rise of 2nd eigenvalue and low space correlation with the highest horizontal plane PAG of a terminal, when two incident waves differ from polarization.
