In this paper, we propose a graph cut segmentation technique using quadtree representation. The graph cut approach to image segmentation has been gaining attention recent years. In the approach, segmentation problems are interpreted as graph cut problems and solved by one of the existing polynomial time algorithms. However, the graph constructed for an image can be quite large because its each vertex corresponds to each pixel of the image. In our technique, we construct the graph whose each vertex corresponds to each region of a quadtree representation of the image. By this region based graph construction, the computational time is reduced, and moreover, the accuracy of segmentation is improved. |
