Evaluation of Fast Reroute in wireless mesh network

(in English) For expanding the coverage of wireless LAN in accordance with IEEE802.11
standard, much attention has been paid to the wireless mesh network where
wireless base stations (AP:Access Point) are arranged in a mesh-like
topology and connected with each other through the wireless links.
However, transient deterioration of the wireless communication occurs
frequently due to interference with other electric waves and the influences
of shields.
Moreover, a conventional dynamic routing scheme such as OSPF(Open Shortest
Path First), in which optimal routes are re-calculated at each AP when a
link failure occurs, is not able to promptly switch the route in transient
failure.
To cope with this issue, in the previous study, we proposed a fast reroute
mechanism suited to wireless LAN which was prototyped on Linux and evaluated
on an experiment network.
In the present study, on the other hand, we are enhancing and refining the
previous method to handle packet looping in more complex network topologies,
and further, investigating the performance in more complex scenarios such as
intermittent link failure through network simulation by using QualNet in
various topologies.
The experimental result indicates the effectiveness of the proposed method.
