An antidictionary is the set of all minimal strings that never appear in an input string, and efficient adaptive data compression algorithms using a statistical model based on antidictionaries were proposed.
However, since the model is built by the whole past string, the algorithm needs a large computational space and there is a lowering of efficiency to adapt to local conditions in proportional to the string length.
To reduce the space and improve compression ratios, we propose two sliding window variations of the algorithm.The proposed algorithms build their models from a recent past string whose length is a constant in a sliding window.
It is shown that the proposed algorithms achieve 2% better compression ratios than the conventional algorithm and perform as well as popular compression algorithms such as the block-sorting compression algorithm by simulation results. |
