Study of Behavior of Contact Resistance of Fretting Corrosion

(in English) Recently, according to downsizing of connectors which applied to automobile, reductions of contact load in connectors are required. For ensuring connecting reliability, it is serious problems that occurrence of fretting corrosion, which is a typical problem of low-load electrical contacts happens. In this study, behavior of fretting corrosion of thin plated contacts which is widely used in automotive connectors was clarified in more precise. Fretting corrosion is assumed and examined. Namely, change of contact resistance in fretting corrosion should be arisen from generation, oxidization, accumulation and removal of fretting debris, and such successive change are due to difference of hardness of plated tin, tin fretting debris, the oxide, intermetallic compound between plated and base metal and copper alloy of base metal.
