Mobile multimedia applications are expected to attract an increasing number of users in the future. To support these applications, the demand for high-speed data transmission and high-quality service are rapidly growing. In the previous works, in order to achieve these demands and improve the throughput performance under multipath fading channel, we proposed Dynamic SMD (symbol mapping diversity) technique which was implemented for cross-layer design. In Dynamic SMD technique, the packet size is adaptively changed according to channel condition. In this report, we focus on the channel estimation method for Dynamic SMD technique, and evaluate the throughput performance by using computer simulation. As a result, we can improve the throughput performance by 2.4\% compared to the conventional fixed packet size technique. |
