Study on Resonant Frequency of Folded Type Rectangular Loop Antenna in UHF Band

(in English) The service for mobile receivers of ISDB-T is called “One-seg” (one segment) and the mobile terminals for One-seg has spread widely. A rod antenna is widely used for mobile terminals currently on market such as mobile phones. However, an external antenna deteriorates the usability of a mobile terminal and is therefore usually not desired. In this paper, we propose a Folded type Rectangular Loop Antenna (FRLA) for one-seg. To resonate in the UHF band, we consider a method where an antenna element consists of copper wire that is folded at each corner of a rectangular loop with a few folds. This method results in a small built-in loop antenna with long electric length that resonates in the lower UHF band. The measured and simulated Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) , radiation patterns and resonant frequency of the FRLA are shown.
