A Mobile Transmission Experiment of 800MHz-band MIMO System in Urban Area

(in English) We have been studying MIMO techniques to achieve a higher frequency utilization of the 800MHz-band FPU system, which is often used for mobile relay broadcastings. We conducted a mobile transmission experiment in an urban area, where the maximum transmitter receiver distance is more than one kilometer, using a prototype MMSE based MIMO system, and evaluated a relationship between the transmission and the propagation. As a result, we found that MIMO transmission properties often deteriorates compared with conventional single stream transmission ones under high carrier-to-noise conditions such as the line-of-sight(LOS)environment. We show that in such cases, the ratio of the eigenvalues is considerably large, though antenna elements are separated by distances more than ten wavelengths. Moreover, we present that there is occasionally a large receiving power difference between transmitted streams in a real environment, and show that in such cases, MIMO transmission properties deteriorates by computer simulation.
