The potential-analog methods, Q-functions and Cut-and-try are well known as general methods for approximating attenuation characteristics of commensurate transmission-line filters. In this paper, approximation problems of such filters by a class of 8th-order rational functions with real coefficients are considered. Conditions for having lowpass or highpass filter characteristics with ripples in the passband and the stopband are given. The conditions are for solving nonlinear simultaneous equations. Moreover, for design of commensurate transmission-line filters those are applied in order to realize band-pass or band-elimination characteristics. |
