Implementation and Evaluation of Fast Failover technologies in SCTP Multihoming using lower layer information

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Stream Control Transport Protocol (SCTP) was developed to take advantage of a multi-homed host, such as mobility.
SCTP is able to attach multiple paths to a connection. An extension to SCTP allows an SCTP stack to dynamically change IP address in a session. However, SCTP can not directly detect lower layer failures, so SCTP can not take full advantage of multi-homing.
In this paper, we combine SCTP with LIES, which is cross layer architecture, in order for SCTP to take full advantage of multi-homing. We show that our proposal archive faster fail-over than default SCTP.
