40GHz Band Down/Up Converter with E-plane circuit

(in English) In this paper, in order to apply on the transmitter/receiver of high quality and low cost CATV bi-directional radio systems, and to integrate high frequency functional devices into rectangular waveguide, we have developed a 40 GHz band frequency down/up converter using E-plane planar circuit mounted in a waveguide. As experimental results, a conversion loss of about 7.79 - 8.70 dB, a total noise figure of about 8.80 - 10.90 dB for down-converter and a conversion loss of about 10.62 - 10.90 dB for up-converter could be achieved.
