Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Recently sensor networks are paid to attention.
Generally a sensor network consists of small sensor nodes which can senses brightness, temperature, sound, acceleration, and magnetism, etc.
Sensor nodes are usually battery-driven.
Therefore a battery power saving mechanism is required.
An intermittent operation is effective for the above requirement.
Under the intermittent operation, each sensor node has two phases, which are called an "active phase" and a "sleep phase."
When a sensor node is in an active phase, the sensor node can use all functions which the sensor node has.
Contrarily when a sensor node is in a sleep phase, the sensor node can use few functions in order to save battery power.
When any pair of sensor nodes performs communication, it is required that both sensor nodes are in an active phase.
Then synchronization for active phases is also required in sensor networks.
Conventional synchronization mechanisms perform synchronization of sensor nodes clock in the whole sensor network.
Overheads of the mechanisms would be large because these mechanisms keep the synchronization of the whole networks regardless of the presence of communications.
Then, this paper proposes a mechanism for taking synchronization within the necessary range only when the communication demand is generated.
