Development of high power output ultrasonic tools
Sho-ichi Ishiwata (PS Research), Masahiko Jin (Nippon Inst. of Tech.) US2007-85
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Allowable maximum amplitude of ultrasonic vibratory tool depends on its shape and material.
By adopting the shape in which maximum strain is distributed uniformly, Kleesattel proposed
to greatly increase output amplitude of a tool horn . The tool horn has to be driven by
a booster with a thread on its input section to assure safe operation. This means the total length
is increased to one wave length. To shorten the total length to half wave length ,the author proposes to replace a unifom quarter wave length input section suggested by Kleesattel with a conical, exponential or wedge section . Dsign procedure are clarified and future new applications are expected by this powerful vibratory tool.
