A study of an OTDM access system using all optical parallel/serial conversion technique.

(in English) An OTDM access system transmitting 4×10Gb/s signal is proposed. All-optical parallel-serial conversion technique using XAM (Cross-absorption modulation) in an EA modulator is applied for MUX/DEMUX of the signals. Injecting a 40Gb/s signal and 4x10GHz optical pulses after transmitted 10-km SMF to an EA, 40Gb/s-to-4x10Gb/s signal conversion for down stream transmission is confirmed. 4x10Gb/s-to-40Gb/s parallel/serial conversion using an EA for upstream transmission is also evaluated and fine BER performance is experimentally obtained using a 10-km SMF.
