The Electromagnetic Measurement by using Scattering Field of a Dielectric Sphere

(in English) The correlation of measured far electric field strength for which is regulated by the rule of EMC to near magnetic field strength which is practically measured for an EUT is not always clear. The authors have been developing the new electromagnetic field measurement system based on the Modulated Scatterer technique (MST) in order to track the radiated noise path in spatially. The dielectric sphere is used as a scatterer instead of a metallic dipole element to improve the field infringement and the isotropic polarization. In this paper, the scattered electric field strength by a dielectric sphere as a scatterer on the MST system was calculated to confirm factors which control the electric field sensitivity in the system. It became clear that the scattered electric field could generate the voltage at a receiving antenna equivalent to that by thermal noise, and that the volume of sphere, modulation ratio of MST, and the scatter efficiency of the dielectric were effective to improve the CN ratio of the measurement system.
