A Hybrid P2P Overlay Network for Hierarchically Categorized Contents

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In P2P contents distribution systems, there are many cases in which the contents can be divided into hierarchical categories. We propose an implementation of Pastry using hybrid searching method called Pastry/HCC exploiting this kind of semantic information well. By applying the category hierarchy of contents to Pastry topology, searching scope can be restrained to any granularity, lowering the number of searching messages, while keeping the capability of keyword searching. By simulation, we showed that this method provides better performance and lower overhead than unstructured overlays exploiting same semantic information.
