Optical reflectometry is a technology for diagnosis of optic components, optical modules, and optical networks. Optical coherence domain reflectometry by synthesis of optical coherence function (OCDR-SOCF) is one of optical reflectometries, which synthesizes and scans a coherence peak along the device under test to obtain the distribution information of reflection and backscattering. The scanning of the coherence peaks is realized by adjusting the modulation frequency of the lightwave frequency of the laser source. Conventionally, the coherence peak has been moved by changing the modulation frequency step-by-step, which takes a lot of time. In this paper, we propose and demonstrate a novel system that sweeps the modulation frequency linearly. The new method removes the time loss due to data transfer between equipments, so we can improve measurement speed dramatically. In the basic experiment, we succeeded in measuring reflectivity distribution from 10m to 20m in 5sec, and from 4900m to 4950m in 10sec, compared with several hundreds seconds in conventional methods. |
