A Study for Image Reconstruction in Time-Resolved Optical Tomography Using FDTD Analysis

(in English) Time reduction of image reconstruction in time-resolved diffused optical tomography (TDOT) based on the Finite Difference Time Domain Analysis proposed by authors has been studied. A scalar objective function which is defined by square differences between measured and theoretical reflectance of scattering medium is minimized to reconstruct TDOT images. Necessary time for differentiation of the scalar objective function with respect to optical parameters of Yee grids is suppressed from third power to second power of the number of nodes by reverse differentiation, in which differentiation of objective function with respect to fluence rate is calculated, then differentiation fluence rate with respect to the optical parameters. It has also been shown that reverse time migration for FDTD analysis is useful for time reduction without extra memory spaces.
