| (in English) | A three-dimensional horizontally wide-angle beam-propagation method is developed on the basis of higher order Pade approximants, together with the alternating-direction implicit scheme. The present method reduces the splitting error to the first order, without resorting to an iteration procedure. The fourth-order accurate finite-difference formula is used to enhance the efficiency of the method. Tridiagonal matrices are successfully maintained with the use of the multistep method for the higher order Pade approximants and of the generalized Douglas scheme for the fourth-order accurate finite-difference formula. The effectiveness is demonstrated through the analyses of a tilted step-index waveguide and a multimode interference coupler. Consideration is also given to the case where a waveguide is tilted in the vertical direction to which the paraxial approximation is applied. | |
