Power Line Transceiver on Conductuve Fabric for Wearable Computing

(in English) Recent developments in computer systems and network systems based on VLSI technology enabled us to carry electronic equipments on our body at most all times, so called `wearable computing.' Increased number of equipments on user's body has made the problems of powering and wiring. The authors have been developing a flexible network infrastructure for wearable computing systems using conductive fabric, ``TextileNet,'' where both power supply and communication are implemented using the surface of the conductive wear. However, the signal swing on the conventional TextileNet is quite large, and this prevents both reducing power consumption and increasing communication speed. In this paper, we describe the improved architecture of TextileNet based on small-swing signaling scheme on DC power supply (DC-PLC). We describe the preliminary experiments of DC-PLC scheme, followed by the design and evaluation of DC-PLC transceiver LSI for TextileNet.
