Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The incombustibility of electrolyte for lithium-ion cells was analyzed using conventional EC/DMC electrolyte and several kinds of phosphazene compounds as flame retardants. Results showed that the incombustibility of the electrolyte meets UL-94V0 standards. Even though adding a retardant decreased the conductivity of the electrolyte, the standard discharge-characteristics of the cell were not affected. No extraordinary phenomena were observed during the overcharging and overheating tests. In addition, material jetting out from the cell during the gas burner overheating test retained non-combustibility.
