Noise Reduction Scheme with Using Redundant GI in Uplink IFDMA

(in English) Recently, Interleaved Frequency Division Multiple Access (IFDMA) is attracting attention as a future mobile radio system in uplink cellular system. However, the signal received at the base station is time dispersive due to the multipath fading and the asynchronous transmission among the simultaneous access users, so that Inter-Block Interference (IBI) is occurred. For avoiding IBI, Guard Interval (GI) is pre-inserted to the transmitted signal. The GI length should be decided as the maximum access timing delay and the maximum delay spread are taken into account, where in cellular system, when the users are in the cell edge and underneath the base station, respectively, the access timing delay and the delay spread are largest. However, since the location of the users in the cell is at random, the delay spread and the access timing delay are at random. If the delay spread and the access timing delay are small, the IBI free duration is within GI length and thus the removal of it is wasteful. In this paper, the noise reduction technique with using the redundant GI length is proposed. Computer simulation results show that the proposed technique can reduce the noise component and thus improve bit error rate.
