Photonic Bandgap Fiber (PBGF) technology offers a non-linearity several orders of magnitude lower than that of solid core fibers. Ultimately, it may even be possible to achieve lower losses than conventional fiber technology. Whilst the obvious attraction of such fibers for transmission applications has previously been identified, few studies appear to have been made in order to optimize the properties for transmissions applications. This time, we analyzed the optical properties of PBGFs from these points of view and report the results. |
