In Osaka University, since many academic affairs systems are going to become online, we have upgraded campus-wide IT authentication infrastructure to support higher security. The new infrastructure resolves vulnerability of the password authentication by introducing PKI authentication. Since key management devices are required to establish secure and convenient PKI, not all of the campus-users can use PKI. We combine PKI and single-sign-on to enable step-by-step migration from password to PKI and to support mixed authentication method. In this paper, we will describe the architecture, the operation status and the future works of the campus-wide IT authentication infrastructure. |
