Photon-pair detection using two-photon absorption in photomultiplier tubes II

(in English) We introduce a method to detect photon pairs using two-photon absorption on the photoelectric surface of photomultiplier tubes. Two-photon absorption can be used for the detection of photon pairs because this phenomenon is induced by two photons which are temporally and spatially close to each other. The photocurrent due to the two-photon absorption, which is called two-photon photocurrent, depends on the statistics of incident photons. In the case of coherent light, the two-photon photocurrent is quadratic with respect to the incident power, while in the case of time-correlated photon pairs it is linearly proportional to the incident power.
In this paper we show the experimental power dependence of two-photon photocurrent exhibiting the difference of photon statistics between coherent light and time-correlated photon pairs.
