Recently, an application of the aircraft structural health monitoring (SHM) system is expected by airline from the demand of low cost aircraft operation. Brillouin optical correlation domain analysis (BOCDA) is very attractive for aircraft SHM application because of its unique advantage of high spatial resolution and high-speed measurements. We have developed robust prototype BOCDA system using temporal gating scheme and polarization diversity technique and successfully measured distribution of fiber Brillouin gain spectrum over 500m measurement range with 50mm spatial resolution, 10Hz sampling rate and ±12.5μ strain accuracy. |
