Estimating Coefficients of Rolling Friction of Road Surfaces Using

(in English) In this article, we propose a new framework in which a network of
car-mounted sensors is used for estimating friction coefficients of
road surfaces. In the framework, each running car measures its engine
power and velocity at each location, and these measurements are
uploaded to a server. Referring to the measurements, the server
computes the maximum likelihood estimates of the values of car
parameters and of the friction coefficients. In this article, we point
out that the estimates have two dimensional freedoms, and propose one
reference car whose parameters are known. For analyzing the
distribution of estimation error, we introduce a measurement graph and
define the distance between cars. We report some results of simulation
experiments that test the dependence of the estimation error to the
structure of the measurement graph.
