[Invited Talk] Database Technologies for Ubiquitous and Sensor Networks
Hideyuki Kawashima (Univ. of Tsukuba) USN2007-3
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Applications of ubiquitous sensor networks are widely spread to natural environment monitoring, civil environment monitoring, or human condition monitoring. Database technologies to support them can be divided to in network data processing and data stream processing. In network data processing technology executes computes data manipulation operations in a sensor network and improves both the performance and the result of query reducing power consumption. Data stream processing technology efficiently filters enormous data. To improve the performance, data stream processing engines does not access to disk and thus its architecture is completely different from conventional DBMS. This paper describes the up to date information of these technologies.
