For performance evaluation of an UHF-TV band receiving antenna in indoor use, it is necessary to know the characteristics of direction of arrival (DoA) at the receiving antenna in an operating environment. Since there are a number of indoor environments, it is difficult to construct the general radio propagation model to be applied for all the environments. This report presents an indoor environment model specified in a living room in residential buildings. A lot of floor plan data of the residential buildings sold in 2005 are collected, and a statistical analysis are applied for the floor layouts and the room sizes, and an average structural model of living room is derived from this analysis as a typical indoor space model in which the television will be settled. The radio waves passing through the window openings are predicted in UHF-TV band for this indoor model using the conventional method based on the geometrical optics theory. The received level characteristics and an antenna performance with directional pattern diversity reception are evaluated. |
