Characteristics of Perceptual Rivalry on the Correlation in MEG Signals
Yasuhide Okada, Haruhiko Nishimura (Univ. of Hyogo), Tetsuto Minami, Tsutomu Murata (NICT)
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Perceptual rivalry is supported by the flexibility of the brain and is thought to be a clue to the understanding of visual awareness. Recent functional neuro-imaging studies such as fMRI and MEG provide some evidence that multiple cortical areas are associated with perceptual rivalry. In this work, we performed mutual correlation analyses for MEG signals obtained from the subjects in experiencing bistable apparent motion of ambiguous figure perception. As a result, we found the remarkable correlations of MEG signals between the anterior and the posterior channels in two seconds before the occurrence of perceptual alternation.
