[Encouragement Talk] Multi-Channel MAC Protocol Considering Transmission State of Adjacent Stations in Wireless Networks
Yosuke Tanigawa, Hideki Tode, Koso Murakami (Osaka Univ.) NS2006-217
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) IEEE 802.11 DCF, the primary channel access method for wireless network, tends to make the network throughput degrade significantly as the number of stations increases. To solve this problem, we construct Multi-Channel MAC Protocol which increases aggregate throughput because multiple transmissions can take place on different orthogonal channels without interfering. We show the effectiveness of our Multi-Channel MAC Protocol by computer simulation. Moreover, we indicate the problems of our protocol, and present more efficient protocol extension to improve channel utilization.
