When a IP Multicast network is constructed on switch-based network,
a lot of broadcasts of the multicast packet are generated.
For solving this problem,
IGMP Snooping is proposed, and it is implemented on various switches.
However,
some switches have only insufficient IGMP Snooping implementation
actually.
This problem is also reported in RFC4541 etc.
Therefore,
Then, we proposes the FDAR(Flooding Detection And Reduce) mechanism for
solving this insufficient IGMP Snooping problem,
in this research.
FDAR transmits dummy IGMP Queries, and dummy joins to the flooding
Multicast group
under the environment of insufficient IGMP Snooping
implementation switch.
The experimental evaluation
shows the effectiveness of our proposed method that
the load of a network decreases because of
the effective restraint control of Multicast packet flooding by the proposal
method. |
