An adaptive FIR filter array in MMSE criterion

(in English) It is known that the left inverse matrix to a circulant delay spread SISO channel represented in Toeplitze matrix exhibits path diversity effect while achieving inverse filter like equalizations. The authors have shown that this class of linear equalizer can be given by an FIR filter array and proposed a non-linear and iterative inter-block interference canceller to be combined with the linear equalizer for BER performance improvements. Tap coefficients of the linear equalizer required eigenvector computations while necessitating precise channel estimations but this increases hardware complexity. This paper considers an adaptive control of the coefficients by MMSE criterion. Simulation results ensure that the adaptive FIR filter array achieves BER performances being comparable with those arrived by an original FIR filter array in which the coefficients are computed by the complicated eigenvector acquisitions.
