A Study on Improvement of Channel Estimation Accuracy in Pseudo Eigenbeam Space Division Multiplexing

(in English) In a MIMO system with space-frequency domain beamforming under frequency selective fading scenarios, a pseudo eigenvector decomposition has been proposed to reduce the calculation load at the transmitter and to maintain frequency continuity of the effective channel observed at the receiver. It has been reported that a pseudo eigenbeam space division multiplexing (PE-SDM) technique can provide almost the same or better performance compared with eigenbeam space division multiplexing when the receiver employs a simple channel estimator exploiting pseudo-eigenvector properties. In this paper, focusing on the calculating process of pseudo eigenvectors, we propose a new scheme improving the accuracy of the effective channel estimates. The simulation results show that the accuracy in the PE-SDM is improved by combining the proposed scheme with the conventional one.
