| (in English) | A refractive index sensor using a wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) fiber optic coupler is developed. The change of refractive index in the evanescent field at the fused region of a coupler shifts the transmission spectrum and thus changes the power splitting ratio at a fixed wavelength. A noise level of 4×10-6 in refractive index is observed using a laser diode and a photodiode for telecommunication. The binding of Avidin is detected by immobilizing Biotin on the surface of a coupler. | |
