Psychophysical Measurement of Effect of Delay of a Haptic Display on Perception of Elastic Force

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The haptic media communication is very sensitive to the network delay. In this report, we measured
effect of feedback-delay on sensitivity of elastic force using psychophysical method. The results showed that the
difference threshold of elasticity did not increase when feedback-delay is not larger than 50ms, and increased when
feedback-delay is larger than 50ms. The results also showed that the change of the difference threshold by feedback-delay decreased when each standard stimulus had the same subjective elasticity.
