Submillimeter Wave Radiation Characteristics from a Periodic Metal Structure on Solid-State Plasma

(in English) Submillimeter wave radiation characteristics of an image guide placed on a solid-state plasma slab and loaded with periodic thin metal strips were analyzed theoretically using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method and measured experimentally employing a thin n-InSb slab at liquid-nitrogen temperature as the plasma material. Theoretical results show that the direction of the radiation can be controlled by varying the externally applied magnetic field. Experimental results are consistent with the theoretical predictions in that the direction of the radiated beam can actually be varied by varying the applied magnetic field.
