Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) When analyzing large-scale three-dimensional (3-D) electromagnetic wave propagation using the conventional FDTD method, it is necessary to make cell size sufficiently small to reduce numerical dispersion error. Using a small cell to model the region of several tens of a wavelength makes it difficult to use FDTD methods because of computational cost. This paper presents the optimal second-order FDTD (OSO-FDTD) method which is four-point difference scheme and is second-order accurate in space and time. We have been analytically obtained the OSO-FDTD coefficients by minimizing the integrated difference between numerical and physical wavenumbers over the entire range of wavenumbers. The newly derived coefficient is quite effective to reduce numerical dispersion error compared with the conventional OSO-FDTD and standard FDTD(2, 4) methods.
