WDM optical interconnects using channel optical waveguides with vertical Y-branches and distributed Bragg reflectors (DBRs) was proposed for chip-to-chip ultra-broadband signal transmission. Use of channel optical waveguides has an advantage of high-density integration. Vertical Y-branch waveguides and DBRs forming optical add/drop multiplexers and 45$^{\circ}$ mirrors were designed. Efficiencies were predicted to be > 95% for guided mode couplings by Y-branch of 1.79$^{\circ}$ branch angle, > 97% for DBR reflection and > 94% for input coupling by 45$^{\circ}$ mirror. Two-dimensional vertical Y-branch waveguide and DBR were fabricated and each function was demonstrated. |
