This paper proposes a method for extraction groin-lymphoma in PET/CT images. In this method, a groin region is firstly determined in a given image, and, secondly, tumor candidates are extracted based on the PET image. Thirdly, the shape and the size of the extracted candidates are detected by referring to the corresponding CT image. In CT images, tumors and other organs such as blood vessels might have similar pixel values. Hence, we distinguish tumors from other organs based on their shapes. As a result, we can detect groin-lymphomas with their accurate shapes even if they are connected with blood vessels or other organs. We experiment by real PET/CT images, and report on the outcome. |
